Edmontosaurus meaning 'Edmonton lizard, after where it was found in Southern Alberta in what used to be called "Lower Edmonton" was a hadrosaurid
dinosaur genus from the Maastrichtian, the last stage of the Cretaceous period, 71-65 million years ago. A fully-grown adult could have been up to 30 feet long and
some of the large specimens reached the range of 40ft, it weighed in the region of 4 tonnes making it one of the largest hadrosaurids. It resembled Maiasaura in its shape and posture, though the two genera were quite different in size
